From Passenger to Leader . Day one
This is day one.
This day I start the most challenging experience so far in my life.
The day I arrive in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The day I officially consider myself as taking on the privileged and responsibility of being President of AIESEC Azerbaijan.
The day I start taking lead in my life, leaving the passenger behind, at least for a while.
I`ve got to say, the past 24 hours (it`s 6 a.m. Sunday now, and I`m traveling by air to Azerbaijan in 9 hours), have been pretty interesting. I`ve traveled from Iasi to Brasov, to their local planning meeting, where I met new members, and old friends, talked about what it`s like to strive to find your place, held a short speech about being rejected the past 6 months while applying in a number of MC teams, and how I moved on to eventually find the right place for me.
I love Brasov, it`s by far one of the most beautiful cities in Romania. The best way to see it is by car though, since the best places to see are not that close together
. I hitchhiked back to the city after spending 3 hours at the conference, and had a pretty cool conversation with Adi, the guy whom gave me a ride. I gave him some advice about how to select the right kindergarten for his children. That was fun, felt helpful. Feels good.
At about 11:00 p.m. Saturday, I arrived in Bucharest, where a dear friend, Ioana [a.k.a. Mele], whom I don`t see often enough, greeted me, and led me to her apartment to sleep over. Thank you again! In a few hours we`re heading out to the city, spend some time together before I grab the plane. That`s gonna be fun.
One thing that`s been on my mind is, how will I cope with being so far from home, in such a different culture, for about a year.
I don`t think I`ll miss Romania that much. Not because some of the people don`t mean a lot to me, don`t get me wrong, they really do, but because the sheer potential, the adventure starting Today is something I`ve been waiting for a long time now.
I think it`s the right time to start leading my own life,
I think it`s the right day.
I think it`s the right moment.
I feel ready.
Let`s get this started!
ps. The one thing I will miss most of all, are my cats
.
